It’s About Bill, STUPID
In 2000, I blamed Gore for not using Bill Clinton. I thought that would have made the difference in his campaign. But he appeared too mad at Bill because of the Lewinsky and ensuing scandal, to use him during his campaign.
Maybe it was not that simple
When all is said and done in this Democratic Primary Season, the longest primary season in history, I believe Hillary’s failures can be summed up as simply as, It was about Bill.
Gore did not want to use him, and Hillary could not figure out how to use him effectively during the campaign. And she had 8 years to figure it out. EIGHT YEARS to figure out how to leverage a very popular president.
Hide him, that didn’t work. GIVE him a role front and center stage, that didn’t work. Forget her toughness, the anti-Hillary factor, forget health care, security, or immigration. What sunk Hillary’s boat was her inability to use Bill.
One lesson we can all learn from this is that much of our own professional success comes from how we identify the strengths in our team members, and how we leverage them to their best use.
