Why Is the NBA Different than the Presidency?

Danny Ferry, General Manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers, completed a huge trade one minute before the deadline last week. Many statistics were bandied about for the players leaving Cleveland and the players coming to Cleveland.

One statistic was especially interesting. The combined playoff game experience of the players leaving was 40+ games. The combined playoff game experience of the players coming to Cleveland was 160+ games.

If playoff game experience is important to the NBA, why is political experience of less importance this primary season?
