Hillary Clinton versus Geraldine Ferraro

A week can not pass in this presidential primary season without an accusation of unfair play. With the race down to three disenfranchised candidates, the unfairness usually revolves around their Achilles heel.

In ring #1 we have the female candidate, an unfair victim of the old boy’s club.

In ring #2 we have the black candidate, an unfair victim of the race card.

In ring #3 we have the age challenged candidate, an unfair victim of the youth card.

Geraldine Ferraro’s recent comment about Obama was using the race card, the Obama camp retorted. She said he would not be a force, if he was not black. Just as she would not have beenĀ asked to be theĀ candidate for vice president if she was a man.

She had a point and her own history, and then she was told she did not have a voice.

Has politically correct gone too far? Did thousands die so we could walk on egg shells?

Every candidate searches for how to distinguish him or herself from the herd. Some candidates have more of a built in distinction. Is it discriminating to identify that built in distinction? when does politically correct become politically stifling?
